Father and Son by emily0410 Father and Son by emily0410
This is an entry for the Disney Clubs Coloring Book Challenge! This contest just sounded so fun I just had to enter. The hardest part was narrowing down which page to choose!

So I decided on my favorite Disney film the Lion King. This is done in acrylics, and I decided to try out a style a bit different to what I usually do.

Inspired by Van Gogh.

The coloring page I choose can be found here: coloringkids.org/disney-colori…

It is wonderful that you did this traditionally.
Yes, the brushstrokes (especially on Mufasa's mane) resemble Van Gogh's brushstrokes!! Nice!

I love Van Gogh, so that's why I've also choose him, but I like much more how you did the painting :) Great, really!

Ahh yes, I can definitely see the Van Gogh influence in the sky and Mufasa's fur! I really like how you used it to your advantage and added texture to the fur and manes. You captured the heartwarming father-son moment well!

Yes! A Van Gogh inspired piece! :w00t: Sorry, he's one of my favourite Modernist painters. ^^;

You've pulled this together well. :D The style of brushstroke works well with Mufasa's mane. :aww:

Awesome job on this!
And of course the fact that it's traditional medium just blows me away. I find it so much easier to do digital art, so I really respect people who are successful with real paint!

Great texturing on the fur and mane.  You make it look like Van Gogh's style was meant for this.

The reference to "la nuit étoilée" is a great idea: we find the same color, and it really perfectly apply to this scene of the Lion King! Great Idea!

Love love love! There is so much going on here, style-and-detail-wise. I can totally see the obvious Van Gogh inspiration but didn't expect the piece to be as, I don't know, NOT abstract as it turned out to be. It's just a really pleasant, nice thing to look at. :D Great job!

You did an awesome job with acrylics for this challenge.  I like using them as well, but I should use them more often.  Good luck in the contest, I think you'll do great. :)

I thinks it's amazing how you did this with acrylics! You are a very talented traditional artist! I especially love all the white tones you used in your work. I gives it this extra special touch. Good luck in the contest! I'm happy there are more traditional entries out there!

Great job! I love how you worked all of the colors in and Mufasa's mane looks amazing! You did great, especially with a medium that is not always insanely forgiving.

Did you not use Van Gogh as your inspiration?  This reminds me a lot of Starry Night!
Anyway I can't believe you did this with real paint and no undo button.  ;)  Great job!

 This is great! These past two times I've put up a coloring contest some of the traditional artists say that the digital artists have an unfair advantage. I don't know how that could be so when the traditional artists who enter always do so well!
